Roles and Responsibilities

The roles and responsibilities of the POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Committee, also known as the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), are:

• Receiving and processing complaints: Receive and process complaints and maintain confidentiality.
• Conducting inquiries: Conduct fair and impartial inquiries into complaints, gathering evidence and testimonies.
• Providing support: Provide support and counseling to the complainant, and ensure their safety and well-being.
• Making recommendations: Make recommendations to the management/administration on actions to be taken against the respondent.
• Ensuring implementation: Ensure implementation of the recommendations and actions taken.
• Raising awareness: Organize workshops, training programs, and awareness campaigns to prevent sexual harassment.
• Reviewing policies: Review and update the POSH policy and procedures as needed.
• Maintaining records: Maintain records of complaints, inquiries, and actions taken.
• Providing annual reports: Submit annual reports to the management/administration and regulatory bodies.
• Ensuring compliance: Ensure compliance with the POSH Act, UGC guidelines, and other relevant regulations.

Additionally, the POSH Committee may also do the following:

• Develop and implement prevention strategies
• Provide guidance on sexual harassment policies and procedures
• Collaborate with external agencies for support and expertise
• Ensure that the workplace/academic environment is free from sexual harassment
